If a customer calls and reports that their device is continuously loosing signal, it is most likely due to a No GPRS alert being set incorrectly. Many wired GPS trackers are designed to maintain a constant connection with our tracking software. If they loose that connection, the customer can choose to receive an alert called “No GPRS Alert”. However, many of our trackers go into “sleep” mode such as the Oyster when not moving. When the device sleeps, it disconnects from cell and disconnects from our server, which triggers the No GPRS Alert.
Typically, the device will not be in an area without cell service because we use Multi-Carrier SIM cards. That means, if the client is in the USA, their device will use both TMobile and AT&T towers, so coverage should be great. 99% of the time, their device is simply going to sleep as it is designed.
